Infrastructure Optimisation

The Infrastructure Optimisation (IO) model has been developed by Microsoft in conjunction with Gartner and M.I.T. to provide a roadmap for companies to align IT with the business and create a mature infrastructure capable of enabling the business, and driving improvements in organisational productivity efficiency and revenue generation.

The IO model will define a roadmap journey for organisations to undertake in order to progressively improve their infrastructure and ability to deliver business benefits and a measurable return on any  technology investments made.

2e2 utilise the IO model as a strategic tool, helping to evaluate the maturity level of an organisation’s ICT environment; the model is then further enhanced as we draw upon the real-life experience gained during our 8 year history of successful customer engagements and deployments.

2e2 has thoughtfully extended its portfolio and invested in a wealth of technical expertise to continue to apply the right technology and services to meet its customers’ needs. We can bring knowledge and skills from other areas of our business to compliment the findings and recommendations driven out by the IO engagement,  ensuring that the journey to a ‘Dynamic infrastructure’ incorporates every area of your environment and exceeds all your business goals.

Microsoft's Infrastructure Optimization Model defines four levels of maturity in the computing platform, each of which has specific and identifiable characteristics.

Level Characterization
Basic Systems are complex and incompatible. Most IT resources are reacting to problems, just trying to keep things running. With few standards and automated tools, support is labor intensive and expensive.
Standardized IT departments are more centralized and effective, but systems remain complex, incompatible, and expensive to maintain. Pockets of standalone systems reside in business groups.
Rationalized IT and business groups develop strategies and define IT policies, which are enforced through technology. Through standards and careful engineering, applications work together with improved compatibility.
Dynamic Business agility takes priority over cost savings. IT systems are highly automated, flexible, and respond quickly to changing business conditions.

2e2 offer an Infrastructure Optimisation Assessment to help you understand and improve the state of your IT infrastructure. The assessment will outline what the improvements could means in terms of costs, security, risk and operational agility.
