As one of the largest and most profitable supermarket chains in the world, our customer found a 25% growth year on year within the online side of their business and in fact cover 98% of the UK and is the country's leading Internet delivery service.
- With a future vision for an increased footprint as well as an exceptional business growth, our customer found that the network and bandwidth was under strain in their existing datacentre. Further space for expansion through a co-location hosting service to enhance resilience, improve customer service and reduce operational costs was a natural move. Alongside this vision, the international giant had pledged to halve carbon emissions from existing stores by 2020 and encourage customers to buy more energy-efficient goods.
- With the existing service provider unable to help them reach the maximum power threshold of their existing infrastructure, they were limited to power and cooling per rack and there was no further rackspace in this facility for expansion
- A full maintenance and monitoring of all network equipment at both sites was required.
- Due to the nature of this market, a quick turn around time with an agile and flexible partner as well as a single account team and single point of contact for support and project management was essential.
Solution
- Our customer moved to an additional location in Milton Keynes. The provision of a private data suite to house 40x 42U rack cabinets within the co-location Data Centre facility in Milton Keynes improves disk speed and efficiency. This suite was designed and tailored to the customer’s requirements. Our approach and solution has now enabled them to half their existing footprint by provisioning enough power and cooling to host 2x dell blade chassis per rack (double that of their existing partners facility).
- The solution includes WAN and internet connectivity with dual redundancy and complete provision and management of 2x 1 gigabit circuits and a 220MB internet bandwidth – largest in the UK.
- 2e2 offer Professional Services & Managed Services which means one project manager and
- account team to provision to coordinate de-commissioning of existing equipment in BT CoLo, transport to new Co Lo and install within racks.
