ITV plc challenges
ITV plc is a leading UK media company and owns all of the regional Channel 3 licences in England and Wales. Together, these channels generate over 90% of ITV1 advertising revenues. Following a merger of Granada plc and Carlton Communications plc to form ITV plc, the challenge was to:
- Integrate the financial systems
- Manage a data migration project with some turnkey scoping and offer best practise advise
- The demands on an Oracle environment never stand still – Oracle solutions are very much ‘work in progress’. ITV continually need to adapt systems to meet changing needs and cover new business challenges.
Solution
- Provide a range of Oracle consultancy and implementation services to regional ITV companies, including Yorkshire Television, Tyne Tees Television, London Weekend Television and Granada, since 1998.
- Provide ongoing support for ITV plc’s entire Oracle applications implementation.
- Migration of Carlton’s financial data into Granada’s Oracle Financials environment in order to provide a single, unified finance system for ITV plc.
- Worked with and interfaced along other Oracle implementation partners for the development the ITV Oracle HR and Payroll solutions.
- ITV has installed the ConfigSnapshot product, which is a configuration management tool for Oracle applications. ConfigSnapshot is proving to be extremely useful as it removes some of the uncertainty from the development process. This tool enables ITV to keep track of what’s been done on our development systems and document it very quickly. Trying to do that manually is very time consuming and, because configuration can be a complex process, it’s easy to make mistakes when generating documentation.
